Japanese politicians are reported to be trying to restrict the use of Chinese-made apps like TikTok owned by ByteDance on data security issues.

After the U.S. and India, Japan considers banning TikTok Last month, India and America banned TikTok. Recently, another news broke that Japan is also looking into the matter of banning TikTok nationwide. TikTok invades its user’s privacy in a way that can never be imagined

The group of legislative representatives of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party would like, according to the Japanese newsletter NHK, to submit proposals for the plan to the government by September. The news of Japanese legislators debating the prohibition on Chinese apps follows India ‘s decision last month to block the QQ Music from devices across the country, with 59 mobile apps owned by China officially being banned.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo publicly said at the start of this month that the US “surely looks” at the ban on Chinese social media apps in China and, in particular, cited TikTok as transferring private user data to the “Chinese Communist Party,” a suggestion that is strongly denied. He also told reporters outside the White House today (29 July), President Donald Trump is considering prohibiting the app. “We look at TikTok, we think that a decision will be made,” he said.Meanwhile, TikTok CEO Kevin Mayer today published a blog post saying that TikTok will launch a centre for transparency and accountability to allow experts to follow the moderation policies of the app, as well as examine the code which controls its algorithms.
