Sex/Life, the hit Netflix drama, recently returned with another steamy and exciting season. The show, created by Stacy Rukeyser, follows a suburban mother, Billie Connelly, who starts to fantasize about her ex-boyfriend after being bored by her mundane life.
In the second season, Billie found yet another suitor apart from her husband, Cooper, and ex, Brad. Audiences who have binged on the second season are now asking for another installment of the show. But has Sex/Life been renewed for season 3? Read on to find out.
Sex/Life Season 3: Renewal Status and Expected Release Date
At the time of writing, Netflix has not yet confirmed the renewal status for Sex/Life season 3. The show has neither been renewed nor canceled. But fans need not worry as the second season came out just recently on March 3. And the streaming platform takes a few weeks or months before deciding on the fate of a show.
Netflix will take into consideration a number of factors, including viewership hours and budget, before confirming Sex/Life’s renewal. If the second season is able to attract the desired number of viewers and stays on the Top 10 list for a few weeks, there is a high possibility that the show will get renewed.
The show premiered in June 2021, and the second season was confirmed in August of the same year, followed by its release in March 2023. If the same trend is followed, and if the show is renewed in the next few months, season 3 can be expected to drop by late 2024.
What Could Happen in Sex/Life Season 3?
A number of plot points have already been concluded in season 2. By the second season finale, Billie got back with Brad, and the couple tied the knot. Meanwhile, Sasha and Kam are also back together and Cooper is planning to propose to Emily. By the end, Billie revealed to Brad that she was pregnant.
If the third season does get made, it will probably revolve around the pregnancy plot. The couples are also expected to face new challenges, along with the addition of new characters to spice things up.
The show will continue to explore the theme of empowering female sexuality. Creator Stacy Rukeyser had talked about the theme while discussing the second season. “To create a show about empowered female sexuality that has entranced so many millions of viewers is not only immensely fun but also incredibly gratifying,” she had said.
“When I think about all the women who have reached out from all over the world to say that the show speaks to them in a deeply personal way, I am so inspired. I’m thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to continue telling this story for Billie, and for all of us,” she had added.
Who will Star in Sex/Life Season 3?
If the third season does get green-lit, the main cast is expected to reprise their roles, including Sarah Shahi as Billie Connelly, Mike Vogel as Cooper Connelly, Adam Demos as Brad Simon, and Margaret Odette as Sasha Snow.
The new characters introduced in season 2 will also probably feature in the next installment. These include Wallis Day as Gigi, Craig Bierko as Mick, Cleo Anthony as Kam, Darius Homayoun as Majid, Dylan Bruce as Spencer. A number of new characters are also expected to join the cast based on the storyline.
Sex/Life seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Netflix. Stay tuned for more news and updates.
