What Happened In The Previous Episode: Recap
Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 7 opened with Snake discovering that someone stole grains from Ketil’s pantry. Einar, Arnheid, and Thorfinn are talking beside the well when the house mistress calls on Arnheid and slaps her for wasting time with other Slaves.
Episode 7 also introduced a new character, Ketil’s elder son Thorgil. Upon returning home from a village council, Ketil and Thorgil are greeted by Snake. Snake has caught the thieves who have been stealing grains. Ketil is surprised that the thieves are two young kids whose father has not returned since last year, and their mother is sick.
Meanwhile, at breakfast, Thorgil talks about the battlefield and his success. He also revealed that Ketil was a famous warrior known as Iron Fist Ketil. Ketil changes the subject and shows his disliking for violence.
Furthermore, Ketil feels pity for them and wants to help them. Thorgil demands their hand as punishment. However, Pater suggests that the kids work for Ketil and repay their debt and should be flogged as a punishment. Ketil doesn’t seem to wish this, but he punishes the kids.
In the end, Ketil is seen in bed with Arnheid. He is shaken up by the violence, reveals his true nature of cowardice, and begs Arnheid never to leave him and stay by his side.
