Career
Haslem chose to enroll at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, on an athletic scholarship. Between 1998 through 2002, Haslem played for Coach Billy Donovan’s Gators teams while there studying Leisure Service Management.
He was severely overlooked in the 2002 NBA draft because of his small stature; at the NBA pre-draft camp, he was only 6 ft 6 in (1.98 m) tall. Haslem joined Chalon-Sur-Saône of the French LNB Pro A and began getting in shape there he lost 50 pounds, 23 kg, in eight months.
Haslem joined his local team, the Miami Heat, on August 6, 2003. He participated in the Rookie Challenge over All-Star weekend, was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team, and assisted the Heat in making it to the Eastern Conference Semifinals as a rookie.
In 2012, Haslem aided the Heat in their return to the NBA Finals. In five games, the squad defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Haslem captured his second championship. Haslem re-signed with the Heat on August 15, 2021.
