On the occasion of Sophia’s 14th birthday, Farrah Abraham, the well-known ‘Teen Mom’ star, took her daughter Sophia to a piercing parlor to get a sixth piercing for her.
As part of her parenting style, Farrah has been vocal about it, and Sophia’s 6th piercing doesn’t make a difference. However, her decision can be controversial on the internet as she could be questioned about her parenting style.
The ‘Teen Mom’ Alum’s Daughter Pierces Her Lips
There has been a lot of backlash in the online community regarding Farrah Abraham’s 14-year-old daughter Sophia’s lip piercing on the internet. So on Wednesday, the former “Teen Mom” alum celebrated her daughter’s birthday by throwing her a “piercing party,” documented on her Instagram account.
“Six piercings later … you match your snake,” the 31-year-old reality star captioned a YouTube clip of the teenager piercing both her lips and ears with snakebite piercings. “Can you even eat your cake?” The question was asked jokingly by Abraham.
There have been mixed reactions on social media from the former MTV personality’s followers regarding the birthday gift that she received.
The Reality Star Fight Back The Online Backlashes
The MTV personality’s followers flocked to the comments section of her post after she posted the video on her Instagram account, where they shared their opinions about how she raises her children. “Y’all are wild thinking this is normal behavior between a mom and a 14-year old … all these piercings on her face are too much at 14,” one user replied. Another retorted, “As if you need one more reason not to be the mother of the year.”
For her part, Abraham has defended her decision and replied to the haters who have criticized her decision. After receiving the online backlash, she told the media, “I won’t be shaming my daughter. I LOVE and support Sophia 100 percent on who and what she wants to become. However, the mom shamers should recognize what some kids will grow out of and what they [will not]. That’s part of a teen journey, as I no longer have my belly button piercing.”
She is not the first reality star to face criticism for allowing her daughter to get pierced, as it was not the first time the reality star did. However, in February 2022, she could explain why she had let Sophia have the septum of her nose pierced and why she felt that was a good idea.
“I would rather it be by a professional, sanitized and clean, than my teen sneaking off and doing it herself and getting an infection. To those who might feel it is inappropriate that my daughter got her nose professionally legally done, I’m all about being legal. We abided by the law. As a parent, I am doing my best to ensure she is healthy and happy, and I covered those bases.”
“So, congratulations to Sophia. I’m wishing her the best in her teen years, and if she wants to get more piercings, more power to her.” She told the outlet that time. In addition to the piercings, the Teen Mom OG alum revealed exclusively in a February 2021 interview that she has given Sophia a talk on the birds and the bees because Sophia has gone through puberty.
