What happened to Jak?
As per the reports, the stand-up comedian Jak Knight left for the heavenly abode on July 14, 2022, Thursday night in Los Angeles. His family shared the news of his death. So far, the cause of his death has not been revealed.
Knight passed away at the age of 28. He created the show Bust Down with Jay, Langston Kerman, and Chris Redd. The show premiered in March this year and starred all of them. The first season of the series consisted of a total of six episodes. The show revolved around four low-wage employees at an Indiana casino.
In the series, Knight’s character was named Jak, who was a stockroom worker, and the youngest and most wild of the tight-knit friend group. Along with starring in the show, he also executive produced it and penned down the script for its two episodes including the premiere.
Jak Knight had worked on several shows
Before Bust Down, Jak worked on many shows including the 2013 Fox animated series Lucas Bros. Moving Company, where he worked as a writer, and as an executive story editor on a season of Black-ish.
Along with this, Knight wrote for Bill Burr’s Roku Channel sketch comedy series Immoral Compass. He started working as a writer and producer in the year 2018. He voiced the character of DeVon, an arithmetic thirteen-year-old.
Jak played the role of producer for the late-night show Pause With Sam Jay. He was also a regular performer on the show. He hosted the show with his fellow comedian pal Jay. He also wrote seven episodes of the second season of the show, which dropped in May.
Tributes pour in for Jak Knight
The Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani wrote, “Rest In Peace Jak Knight. Hilarious comedian and a great guy. I can’t believe it.” The Loot alum Joel Kim Booster tweeted,” I’m in shock. There was no one like Jak Knight. A singular talent, actually funny and a genuinely kind person, a rare combo. I just can’t believe this at all.”
Stand-up comedian Travon Free penned, “Jak Knight is such a loss. So talented never a dull moment hanging out with him. The comedy world, his friends and family lost a really good one.” Jak’s fellow comedian Adam Conover wrote, “What the fuck. I can’t believe it. I don’t know what to say. Jak was a tremendous comic and human being. Absolutely devastating.”
American writer Solomon Georgio tweeted, “I don’t know what to say. I met Jak Knight when he was a teenager. I’ll never forget the weekend me, him and Mo Welch did a casino show for a bunch of Trump voters. One crowd was especially hateful and he didn’t hold back a single punch.”
