Selena Gomez has addressed her weight gain
In a video shared on the micro-blogging platform Twitter, the Calm Down singer said, “When I’m taking it, I tend to hold a lot of water weight, and that happens very normally. When I’m off of it, I tend to kind of lose weight.”
Selena went on to say, “I just wanted to say and encourage anyone out there who feels any sort of shame for exactly what they’re going through and no one knows the real story.” She also stated that even though it’s taken a toll on her mental health, she tries to focus on her health.
Gomez continued, “I just want people to know that you’re beautiful, and you’re wonderful. Yeah, we have days where maybe we feel like s–t, but I would much rather be healthy and take care of myself. My medications are important, and I believe that they’re what helps me.”
The entertainer also mentioned she is “not a model” and “never will be.” Nonetheless, she wrapped up the video with a special message for her fans as well as haters. She said, “I love you guys and thanks for supporting me and understanding. And if not, go away, because honestly I don’t believe in shaming people for their body or anything.”
Selena Gomez was diagnosed with lupus in 2014
For those of you who don’t know, let us share with you, the Love You Like A Love Song crooner was diagnosed with lupus way back in the year 2014. Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that often leads to swelling, fatigue, and joint pain.
In her Apple TV+ documentary, My Mind & Me, Gomez spilled the beans on her journey with the painful disease. In the documentary, she revealed that her sickness was getting worse and she hadn’t felt such excruciating pain in years.
While in tears, Selena said, “Now it just hurts. Like, in the morning when I wake up, I immediately start crying because it hurts, everything.” To deal with the pain, she had to go on an intravenous drug called Rituxan, which she had already tried in the past.
The Look At Her Now singer continued, “The Rituxan was really hard to do last time. It’s about four hours, five hours. It’s really hard on your system at first, but it’s OK.”
