Who will be performing at the 2023 Oscars?
As per the traditions, all the artists nominated for Best Original Song perform at each year’s event. Although, this year, one big name from the music industry will not be performing at the 2023 Oscars. The names of the singers set to perform at the Academy Awards 2023 are given below.
Rihanna
After her big comeback to the stage with the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show, the pregnant rock star is all pumped to perform the smashing hit song Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at the 2023 Oscars. The song is one of the nominees in the Best Original Song category.
The 35-year-old pop superstar will be seen taking over the stage at the forthcoming 95th Academy Awards, which will broadcast live on ABC from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on March 12.
The song Lift Me Up marked the first solo release of the Fenty Beauty founder since the year 2016. She dropped her eighth album named Anti in the same year. Her album consisted of songs like Needed Me, Work, and Kiss Me Better.
In addition to this, RiRi also gave her vocals to the song Born Again for Black Panther 2 and dedicated it to the late Black Panther star who died in August 2020 after a silent battle with cancer. Chadwick Boseman passed at the age of 43 at his Los Angeles home with his wife and family by his side.
Lenny Kravitz
The American superstar Lenny Kravitz who is best noted for his famous tunes like Fly Away, It Ain’t Over ’til It’s Over, Are You Going to Go My Way, Let Love Rule, and Always on the Run will also be performing at the 2023 Oscars.
During this year’s ceremony, Leonard Albert Kravitz popularly known as Lenny Kravitz will do the honors of delivering the “In Memoriam” performance. In the past decade, many stars like Barbra Streisand, Jennifer Hudson, and Eddie Vedder have handled the In Memoriam performance.
Back in the day, the Fly Away hitmaker took home the Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance for a total of four years in a row from 1999 to 2002. That’s a big deal in itself.
Apart from his music career, Kravitz has also starred in movies such as Precious (2009), The Hunger Games (2012), Lee Daniels’ The Butler (2013), and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013).
David Byrne, Son Lux, and Stephanie Hsu
This year, David Byrne, Son Lux, and Stephanie Hsu will be performing the Oscar-nominated song “This is A Life” from Everything Everywhere All at Once at the 95th edition of the awards ceremony.
Sadly, Japanese singer Mitski will not able to join others at the Oscars 2023 but David Byrne will be hitting the stage with experimental band Son Lux and Best Supporting Actress nominee Stephanie Hsu.
Ryan Lott, Mitski, and Byrne wrote the music for the song This Is A Life, meanwhile, the lyrics were penned by Lott and Byrne. David is a Scottish-American singer who is well-known by the fans as the founder, lead singer, and guitarist for the critically acclaimed band Talking Heads.
In the year 1985, Byrne won the Oscar for original score for Bernardo Bertolucci’s The Last Emperor. At that time, David shared his Oscar with music composers Ryuichi Sakamoto and Cong Su.
Sofia Carson and Diane Warren
At the 95th Academy Awards, Diane Warren will perform her song Applause from the movie Tell It Like a Woman along with actress and singer Sofia Carson who will be heading from the Oscars red carpet show to performing on the stage in the same night.
In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, the Purple Hearts star spilled the beans on the song Applause and stated why the song means everything for equality and gender parity.
While talking about the opportunity to perform at the Oscars, Carson said, “I still pinch myself about the very real reality that I am talking about the Oscars and that Lady Gaga and Rihanna will also be performing on the same stage.”
Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava

Lady Gaga will not be performing at the Oscars 2023

As per Deadline, “The singer had told producers she was planning on coming to the ceremony as a nominee, but she won’t have time to prepare a number because she’s shooting Joker: Folie à Deux.”
