As Queen Elizabeth II (96), the longest-reigning monarch in UK’s history passed away on September 9, the country witnessed a 10-day mourning period. Monday (September 19) marks the day of the queen’s state funeral at London’s Westminster Abbey. From world leaders to royal families, around 500 dignitaries have already arrived in London for the state funeral. Here is a complete list of the invitees.
From The British Royal Family…
Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral at London’s Westminster Abbey will be attended by the queen’s son King Charles along with his wife, Camilla (Queen Consort). The funeral will obviously witness her other children Prince Andrew, Princess Anne, and Prince Edward along with their spouses.
The guest list includes the queen’s grandchildren: Prince William (Accompanied by Kate and her children); Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ( along with their children); Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie; Peter Philips; Zara Tindall; Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn (expected). They will be accompanied by their husbands and wives. However, it is not clear if Elizabeth’s all 12 great-grandchildren will also attend.
Apart from the immediate family, other invitees include Earl Spencer, the queen’s godson, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, and Duke and Duchess of Kent, Princess Diana’s brother. The list also includes the Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York; Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor, the queen’s first cousins, et al.

As of now, 19 monarchs have confirmed their attendance at Queen Elizabeth’s state funeral. Royal families from Europe (many being blood relatives of the Queen) have confirmed their presence. These include King Felipe and Queen Letizia, Belgium’s King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and his wife, Queen Maxima accompanied by their mother, Princess Beatrix.
Apart from this, the royal families of Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Monaco have also confirmed their attendance. The guest list includes several other royal families from across the world, such as:

Former Prime Ministers of the UK such as Sir John Major, Sir Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, David Cameron, Theresa May and Boris Johnson along with their spouses also form part of the invitation list. In addition to this, leaders of the opposition parties have also been invited.

Queen Elizabeth II served as the head of Commonwealth nations, therefore, leaders across the Commonwealth have already arrived in London to pay their last tribute to the queen. These include the Prime Minster of Australia; Anthony Albanese, Prime Minister of New Zealand; Jacinda Ardern, Prime Minister of Canada (Justin Trudeau), Prime Minister of Bangladesh (Sheikh Hasina), and President Of India (Droupadi Murmu). President of Sri Lanka; Ranil Wickremesinghe has accepted the invitation.
Apart from this, the invitation has gone to Prime Ministers and Presidents of around d28 Commonwealth nations. The invitation list has also been extended to High Commissioners, National representatives and Commonwealth Secretariat.

World leaders like America’s President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden have arrived in London for the state funeral. Despite criticism for the treatment of the Uyghur minority, Chinese President Xi Jinping has also received the invitation. However, Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan will be attending the funeral.
The invitation has also been accepted by Irish Taoiseach Micheal Martin and President Michael Higgins, President of Germany; Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of Italy; Sergio Mattarella, President of France; Emmanuel Macron.
The guest list also includes world leaders like the President of Albania, the President of Austria, the Prime Minister of Algeria, the President of Brazil and First Lady, the President of Bulgaria, the President of Croatia, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Prime Minister of Egypt and other leaders from countries like Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Montenegro, Palestine, Poland, Romania, Somalia, Serbia, Switzerland etc.
Foreign ministers and ambassadors from countries like Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chile, Columbia, Mexico, Nepal, Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Uruguay, Zimbabwe etc have also been invited to the queen’s state funeral. Apart from this, dignitaries from supernational organizations like the European Council, United Nations, and NATO are also invited.
Who Are Not Invited To The Queen’s Funeral?
While the world has received an invitation to bid goodbye to the beloved queen, representatives from many counties haven’t received an invitation due to their own wrongdoings. Here is a list of those who are not invited to the queen’s state funeral:
- Representatives of Russia and Belarus (Russian invasion of Ukraine)
- Representatives of Myanmar
- Heads of States of North Korea and Nicaragua (only ambassadors invited)
- No one from Syria (Syrian civil war) and Venezuela (presidential crisis) has been invited
So if we compile the above, representatives from around 121 countries (19 monarchs, 20 prime ministers and 46 presidents) have confirmed attendance at the queen’s funeral as of Sept. 17. After the state funeral, the queen will be buried at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle alongside her parents, sister and husband, Prince Philip as per her wish. September 19th has been declared a national holiday in the United Kingdom.
