The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have dismissed an apology by the UK tabloid “The Sun” for publishing a highly hateful column against Meghan. The royal couple revealed that Meghan never received an apology from the newspaper. The issue relates to a controversial column by Jeremy Clarkson wherein he suggested that he dreamt of Meghan being stripped down and shamed in the most graphic of terms.
Continues To Profit Off Hate, Misogyny & Violence
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have dismissed Sun’s apology regarding a creepy piece article written by Jeremy Clarkson, referencing an act from “Game Of Thrones” where Cersei is put through an exact treatment as mentioned for Meghan.
A spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan stated, “While the public absolutely deserves the publication’s regrets for their dangerous comments, we wouldn’t be in this situation if The Sun did not continue to profit off of and exploit hate, violence and misogyny,” a spokesperson for Harry and Meghan said.
“A true apology would be a shift in their coverage and ethical standards for all. Unfortunately, we’re not holding our breath,” the spokesperson added on the royal couple’s behalf. Prince Harry and Meghan, however, dismissed this apology stating that Meghan never received one, hinting that the tabloid’s statement was “meaningless” and “empty”.
In its vague apology, “The Sun” stated: “We at The Sun regret the publication of this article and we are sincerely sorry”. The newspaper reported that this hateful article written by Jeremy Clarkson has been removed from Sun’s website and archives.
Following the article, a letter written by Caroline Nokes, chair of parliament’s Women and Equalities Select Committee, wrote a letter to the editor of The Sun warning such “articles contribute to a climate of hatred and violence against women.” This letter has been signed by more than 60 lawmakers.
All About Jeremy Clarkson’s Article…
Literally gobsmacked at the utterly vile and disgusting comments written about Meghan Markle by Jeremy Clarkson in the Sun. What an utter piece of trash he is…what is it with these type of men that triggers them so? pic.twitter.com/iLpzIilTlm

The disgusting article written by Jeremy Clarkson contained disgusting hateful comments about Meghan Markle. One part of the article drew the utmost outrage: “Meghan, though, is a different story. I hate her. Not like I hate Nicola Sturgeon or Rose West. I hate her on a cellular level.”
Jeremy continued, “At night, I’m unable to sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her.” He was referring to a scene from “GOT” wherein Cersei is put through a similar treatment.
As a result of the article, “The Sun” received several complaints. The newspaper, however, responded, by stating: “Columnists’ opinions are their own, but as a publisher, we realise that with free expression comes responsibility.” Meghan and Harry’s PR simply called the newspaper’s apology a PR Stunt.
Oh dear. I’ve rather put my foot in it. In a column I wrote about Meghan, I made a clumsy reference to a scene in Game of Thrones and this has gone down badly with a great many people. I’m horrified to have caused so much hurt and I shall be more careful in future.

Jeremy Clarkson too responded on Twitter and stated that he was “horrified to have caused so much hurt”. He added to be careful in the future, but we all know it doesn’t mean anything. If you aren’t aware this article was an attack on Harry and Meghan’s revelations about the UK tabloid in their explosive Netflix documentary.
The recent Netflix series also touched on issues about Meghan’s deteriorating mental health and her miscarriage in July 2020. He blamed the media for this miscarriage. The Duchess of Sussex herself came forward and said, “I was pregnant. I really wasn’t sleeping. The first morning that we woke up in our new home is when I miscarried.” Well, we all know how media rules in the U.K.
