Paris Hilton is sharing her side of the story about her infamous 2004 sex tape. The model and entrepreneur has revealed that she was pressured into filming the video by her then-boyfriend Rick Salomon.
The 42 year old socialite made the revelation in her upcoming memoir, Paris: The Memoir. She did not mention Salomon’s name in the book but stated that she was uncomfortable recording the clip and gave in to the fear of being left by her boyfriend.
Paris Hilton Talks About Her Sex Tape with Rick Salomon in New Memoir
Hilton, who was 19 at the time of recording the video, said that she does not remember much about the night. She referred to Salomon as ‘Scum’ in the book and stated, “He wanted to make a videotape while we made love. He had often said it was something he did with other women, but I felt weird and uncomfortable about it.”
“I always told him, ‘I can’t. It’s too embarrassing,’” she said, adding that she drank alcohol and took Quaalude before filming the tape. Hilton further revealed that ‘Scum’ told her the video would remain between themselves only and ‘no one else would ever see it.’
She also disclosed how she struggled to understand her sexuality at the time and wanted to look mature in front of her boyfriend. She also desired ‘to feel like a woman who’s comfortable in her own skin.’
Hilton Says She Agreed to Record the Video Due to the fear of Being Dumped
“He told me if I wouldn’t do it, he could easily find someone who would, and that was the worst thing I could think of – to be dumped by this grown man because I was a stupid kid who didn’t know how to play grown-up games,” Hilton wrote about her poker player ex-boyfriend in her memoir.
It was in 2004 that Hilton found out the tape was leaked online, a long time after the couple had split. Talking about how she felt on watching the video, she wrote, “It took me a minute to make the connection to that private video. I had to close my eyes and breathe. I felt like I was going to throw up. It was inconceivable to me.”
Hilton says she begged Salomon to stop circulating the tape, but he insisted that he had the right to sell it for its ‘financial value.’ The Hilton Hotels heiress also expressed, “More value than my privacy, obviously. My dignity. My future. Shame, loss, and stark terror swept over me.”
The Model also Opened Up About the Effect of the Video on her Parents
Talking about how her parents were affected by the tape, Hilton said, “My mom just crumpled into bed and stayed there. My dad, red-faced and furious, worked the phones, calling lawyers, calling spin doctors, trying to help me marshal any hope of damage control.”
Fortunately, the media personality has now moved on from the incident. She is happily married to Carter Reum. The couple welcomed their first child, son Phoenix, via surrogate in January this year.
