As part of the 2023 British Academy Film Awards, or BAFTA Awards, the nominations have been announced and are now available online.
With a total of 24 categories, there were several surprises, including the impressive showing of “All Quiet on the Western Front,” which led the way with 14 nominations.
BAFTA Has Announced The Nominations For The 76th Annual Awards Ceremony
Several nominations have been announced for the upcoming 2023 Bafta awards. As part of their live stream ahead of the Bafta award ceremony, Hayley Atwell and Toheeb Jimoh announced the lucky winners. They were hoping to receive an award at the ceremony.
A Quiet Place on the Western Front is the leading nominee with 14 nominations. Banshees of Inisherin and Everything Everywhere All At Once are tied for second with ten nominations each. Elvis and TAR are tied for third with nine nominations each.
We will find out who won at the EE Baftas on Sunday, February 19, when the winners will be announced. Taking place at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in February, the 76th annual film awards ceremony will be hosted by Richard E Grant.
There Has Been Controversy Surrounding BAFTA’s Acting Nominations In The Past
Since BAFTA’s acting nominations lack diversity, there has been some controversy over BAFTA’s acting nominations in the past. There were 20 acting nominees for the BAFTA awards in 2021. All of them were white actors or actresses.
Also, in previous years, there have been concerns that there are not enough female directors in the category of Best Director, as there have been in last years. However, as a result of The Woman King, Gina Prince-Bythewood received her first nomination for a BAFTA this year.
The BAFTA organization has undergone profound structural changes over the past three years, including an expansion of its membership, introducing a long-list system to increase the popularity of all the films submitted for nominations, and introducing an acting category as well as the best director category, all of which contributed to the nominations.
Nominations For The Bafta Awards 2023: The Full List
It is expected that the awards ceremony, which will acknowledge some of the outstanding contributions made to film by British and international talent this year, will be held on February 19 at 7 p.m. (GMT) at London’s Royal Festival Hall, with actor Richard E. Grant playing the role of host.
There will be a live ceremony broadcast this year for the first time. This will follow the previously recorded tradition that will be shown on the same day to reveal the final four category winners. The nominations are listed below in their entirety.

About BAFTA Film Awards
The British Academy Film Awards are more commonly known as the BAFTA Film Awards in the film industry. They celebrate the most outstanding British and international contributions to film made during the previous year. The BAFTA Film Awards are hosted by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) each year.
There was a period from 2007 until 2016 when the awards ceremonies were held at the Royal Opera House in London. This was originally the flagship Odeon movie theater in Leicester Square in London.
It was initially scheduled at the Royal Albert Hall in London from 2017 until 2022. However, it was moved to the Royal Festival Hall for the ceremony in 2023. An award statue depicting a theatrical mask is presented to recipients for their achievements.
Vivien Leigh was the host of the first BAFTA Awards ceremony in 1949, and the show was first aired on the BBC in 1956, with Vivien Leigh serving as the host. As of 2001, the ceremony has typically occurred in February, although it used to take place in April or May.
