Neal Mohan is taking charge of YouTube as former CEO Susan Wojcicki has decided to step down from her position after nine years. The executive, who has been serving as the Chief Product Officer at the video-sharing platform, was always touted as number two to the CEO.

Before joining YouTube, Mohan worked at Google and DoubleClick. Over the years, he has been able to earn a huge amount of wealth. Here is everything we know about Neal Mohan’s net worth and earnings.

Neal Mohan Net Worth

Neal Mohan’s net worth in February 2023 is estimated to be $350 million. Most of these earnings have come from his long and illustrious career at Google. After graduating from Stanford University with an electrical engineering degree in 1996, Mohan began his career at Andersen Consulting, now named Accenture.

The following year, he got a job as a senior analyst at a startup called Net Gravity, which sold enterprise software to digital marketing clients. He was paid $60,000 a year at the startup. In November 1997, the company was acquired by DoubleClick, an Internet advertising startup.

Mohan then moved to New York and worked in services, sales operations, and business operations at DoubleClick. He eventually reached the position of Vice President, Business Operations in the company. In 2003, he left the company to get an MBA degree from Stanford.

Career with Google

After finishing his MBA, Mohan rejoined DoubleClick as head of products and strategy. The company was taken over by Google for $3.1 billion, and Mohan became an employee of the world’s largest search engine firm. In 2008, he was made the Senior Vice President of Display and Video Ads at Google, a position he held till 2015.

In 2013, Mohan made global news after it was reported that Google paid him $100 million to stop him from joining Twitter. He was offered the role of chief product role at Twitter but was paid $100 million in stock grants to be retained at Google. At the time, Sundar Pichai, the current CEO of Alphabet who was given a similar offer, was paid $50 million to be retained.

Mohan Joined YouTube in 2015

After serving as the Senior Vice President of Display and Video Ads, Mohan was appointed as the Chief Product Officer at YouTube. There, he worked closely with the CEO Susan Wojcicki and was said to be her lieutenant.

Since 2020, he has also been serving as an Independent Director of Stitch Fix Inc, an online personal styling platform that delivers one-to-one personalization through the combination of data science and human judgment. Mohan is also a member of the Board of Directors at 23andMe, a DNA and genetic testing company.

On February 17, 2023, it was announced that Susan Wojcicki would be leaving YouTube, after which Mohan will be the new head and SVP. “He has a wonderful sense for our product, our business, our creator and user communities, and our employees. Neal will be a terrific leader for YouTube,” Susan said while giving charge to Mohan.
