Former “Real Housewives of Orange County” star Meghan King accused her ex-husband, Jim Edmonds of coercive control, amid their ongoing custody drama. The 38-year-old reality star took to Instagram and shared how she’s been affected by the after-effects of divorce, and how her husband falsely accused her of keeping their kids away from him.
The After-Effects Of Divorce…
“Real Housewives of Orange County” star Meghan King accused her ex-husband, Jim Edmonds of using ‘coercive control’ amid their ongoing custody drama. On Wednesday (Feb. 16), the 38-year-old star took to her Instagram stories to share her painful moments and how her husband falsely accused her of keeping the children away from him.
“Nobody really talks about coercive control and the after-effects of divorce,” King expressed while wiping away tears. “People say, ‘It’ll get better in time. It’ll get better with time.’ It’s been three years.”
She continued in her IG stories, “When? What time do I have to wait? The lawyers told me that. My parental coordinator, everyone told me that. It’s not better. It’s worse.” Per the Women’s Aid website, coercive control refers to “an act or a pattern of acts of assault, threats, humiliation and intimidation or other abuse that is used to harm, punish, or frighten their victim.”
Jim’s Recent Accusations Against Meghan…
Divorce and custody battles can be really harsh, especially on the kids. Meghan’s emotional social media message comes after her ex-husband, Jim Edmonds recently claimed that Meghan went on a “narcissism retreat” in Arizona, leaving their kids – Aspen, 5, and twins Hart and Hayes, 4, with a nanny instead of him.
The former MLB player took to his Instagram and posted a story: “Sad when your ex tells the kids, you don’t want to see them when you’re busy then doesn’t let you see them when you’re out of town. Unknown…” After this, his rep provided details on the ex-couple’s co-parenting issues.
“Jim thinks it’s unfortunate the kids are being left with a nanny instead of their father, who changed his Super Bowl plans so he could be with them. Hopefully, Meghan enjoys her narcissism retreat,” his representative revealed in an interview.
It was reported that Edmonds cancelled a trip to Vegas (Super Bowl match) after learning that King was leaving behind her kids for a retreat to Arizona. Before talking about “coercive control”, Meghan hit back at Jim by stating she is “sick of verbal and emotional abuse not being classified as ‘abuse.’”
“The courts don’t help protect me, my country club doesn’t protect me, the police don’t enforce, lawyers don’t want to deal with this, so I’m taking matters into my own hands.” She continued, “I want my children to be proud of their mother for not taking this sitting down. Well-behaved women rarely make history and I plan to be on the right side of it.”
Previously, Jim slammed several “false accusations” against him made by Meghan in her temporary protective order. The custody battle has gone so much that the ex-couple started dragging their kids’ names. Jim revealed previously on a podcast that King “exaggerated their 4-year-old son Hart’s cerebral palsy diagnosis” so fans could “relate” to her.
Meghan King and the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame member separated in 2019, but their divorce got finalised until May 2021. Jim is now married to Kortnie O’Connor, while King tied the knot to Joe Biden’s nephew Cuffe Biden Owens in 2021, but the two ended up splitting in just two months.
