Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has received backlash on social media after a video surfaced of him singing a song in a hotel lobby just two days before Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral. The 50 year old leader was seen singing “Bohemian Rhapsody” during his stay at The Corinthia Hotel in London over the weekend.
The video has now gone viral on Twitter, with people criticizing the Prime Minister for being insensitive and enjoying himself, even when he is in London to take part in the Queen’s funeral. Continue reading to watch the video.
Justin Trudeau Sings Bohemian Rhapsody Two Days Before Queen’s Funeral in London
In the video doing the rounds on social media, Trudeau is seen wearing a maroon t-shirt as he stands with his arms over the piano and sings, “Because I’m easy come, easy go…Little high, little low,” the lyrics of the song by Freddie Mercury in front of an audience in a hotel lobby.
He was joined by Quebec pianist and radio host Gregory Charles, along with other members of the Canadian delegation to the funeral. As per reports, the footage was recorded after the delegation attended a dinner on Saturday.

The Canadian Prime Minister’s Office confirmed with a statement on Monday that the delegation did enjoy a musical evening. The statement read, “After dinner on Saturday, Prime Minister joined a small gathering with members of the Canadian delegation, who have come together to pay tribute to the life and service of Her Majesty.”
“Over the past 10 days, the Prime Minister has taken part in various activities to pay his respects for the Queen, and today, the entire delegation is taking part in the State Funeral,” the statement read further.
Social Media Users Call Out the Prime Minister
As soon as the tweet went viral, social media users started slamming Justin Trudeau for his actions. A user tweeted, “This is inappropriate the evening before the Queens funeral in Britain..I live in Britain, believe me this is not going to go over well for him here.”
Another user wrote, “Watching this, I just broke out in a sweat – I’m so embarrassed for Canada,” while a third one tweeted, “Was he drunk or high? Or both!? Looks like he’s turning his trip to the Queens funeral into a party. (With 19 others).”
“I don’t think the Brits are going to appreciate Trudeau partying on the eve of their beloved queen’s funeral. What a disgrace,” slammed another Twitter user. Meanwhile, some people also defended the leader, saying that the incident was not too big of a deal.
Trudeau is Leading Canada’s Delegation to the Queen’s Funeral
Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau are in London to lead Canada’s delegation to the Queen’s funeral at Westminster Abbey. The couple is joined by actress Sandra Oh and Olympic gold medallist swimmer Mark Tewksbury.
Before the dinner on Saturday, the Prime Minister visited Westminster Hall, where he paid tribute to the Queen as her coffin lay in the hall. During his visit, he also met Britain’s new Prime Minsiter, Liz Truss.
