On Sunday night, Jessica tripped on her pink dress designed by Zuhair Murad while walking towards the podium to accept the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series for her role in “George & Tammy.”
In the series George and Tammy, Chastain played the role of country singer Tammy Wynette opposite Michael Shannon, who essayed the character of one of Tammy’s husbands, country superstar George Jones.
To win the SAG Award, Chastain beat her fellow nominees: Emily Blunt (The English), Julia Garner (Inventing Anna), Niecy Nash-Betts (Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story), and Amanda Seyfried (The Dropout).
After the embarrassment of her fall went away, Jessica took to the stage and mentioned that after her current Broadway show, “A Doll’s House,” she will meet with fans outside the stage doors, including actors.

The Hollywood actress shared, “It reminds me of when I was in college Philip Seymour Hoffman came to speak to my class and he told us all of his frustrating stories about auditions and he encouraged us to keep going even if it felt like no one was watching us.”
Jessica went on to say, “And at the end of the talk he said, ‘I look forward to working with each of you and it really shocked me because it was like he brought it into being. A few years later it became true when I had the opportunity to do a play with him and I’m telling this story now because it reminds me of how powerful our mind is.”
She concluded her speech by giving a sweet shoutout to “everyone who might be struggling at home, to all the actors I get to meet, keep going. You’re one job away, I look forward to working with you and I’ll see you on set and I love you.”
During the 29th edition of the annual awards ceremony, Jessica was the only actor wearing her mask at her table. It seems like she was protecting her voice for her Broadway role.

During an interview with People magazine, The Good Nurse actress stated she was flustered about the tumble. She said, “I’m a little embarrassed I tripped on the stairs — but I had two very handsome men helping me up” — one of whom was Paul Mescal! — “so that wasn’t so bad.”
Then, Jessica spoke about her win which marks her third SAG Award out of a total of five nominations. She further added, “I’m just so over the moon and happy and I can’t believe it.”
