Jessa Duggar Reveals She Suffered Miscarriage with Fifth Baby
The 19 Kids and Counting alum shared her heartbreaking journey in a YouTube video posted on February 24. In the 18-minute video titled Heartbreak Over the Holidays, Duggar revealed that she was 11 weeks pregnant when she lost her baby. The video first showed the reality star and her husband telling their children they would have another sibling.
Duggar then revealed that she experienced some spotting and intense morning sickness and went to see the doctor in late December 2022. She said when the technician looked at her ultrasound, ‘I could tell there was some concern in her voice.’ The technician then told her, “Well, the sac looks good, the baby does not.”
“Honestly, nothing could have prepared me for the weight of those words in that moment,” said Duggar, adding, “I was just in complete shock. I didn’t even have words. I just immediately started crying. And I was so, so thankful in that moment that I had not gone to that appointment by myself because I almost did.”
Duggar Shared Heartbreaking Details of the Incident
Duggar further revealed that she underwent a D&C surgical procedure. “Right as they were wheeling me back to the operating room, I just wanted to ask, like, Just, can I please have one more ultrasound? Please, somebody check, make sure. I was having all these fears that maybe they got something wrong. You know It’s irrational, but you just feel scared.”
“The most devastating part was waking up after the procedure was over and having this hollow feeling inside because you know that the life that was in you is no longer there, and you never did get to see your baby and say those goodbyes,” said a heartbroken Duggar.
She thanked her family for their support and stated, “It’s been a journey and one that I’m still on, but I can say I’m so thankful to have my four babies and to be able to come home that night and hug my little ones. It’s just such a tremendous comfort.” The reality star will now be taking a break from social media to cope with her loss.
