Jessica Chastain who has starred in films with feminist themes was widely praised on Sunday night for wearing a mask while sitting in the audience at the 2023 Academy Awards.
The Oscar-winning actress was the only celebrity wearing a mask in a crowd full of Oscar attendees. In a clip from the annual awards show, the host of the show Jimmy Kimmel asked her a question during the fun segment.
At that point, the George & Tammy star seemed surprised as the camera panned towards her before taking off her black mask. For the Academy Awards, she opted for a plunging rhinestoned gown with a black velvet train.
The comedian asked Jessica about her experience working with her co-star Matt Damon in the 2015 film The Martian. He jokingly reignited his fake feud with the renowned actor.
Kimmel asked her, ‘Was it difficult filming your movie, The Martian, because your costar, Matt Damon, can’t read and smells like dog medicine?’ She replied, ‘I didn’t really have a lot of scenes with him, so it was fine.’
