Erika Jayne is being sued by Nicolas Cage’s ex-girlfriend Christina Fulton for $745,000
As per the court documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight, Erika is getting sued by Nicolas Cage’s ex-girlfriend Christina Fulton for $745,000 over claims of theft and fraud.
Christina Fulton has claimed that Erika and her estranged husband Thomas “Tom” Girardi are the ones who are responsible for breach of fiduciary duties. Not only that but also a breach of contract and legal malpractice, among other complaints.
At one point, Tom was seen as a successful plaintiff’s lawyer. He founded the now-defunct law firm, Girardi Keese. After a while, a few claims were made against the firm by the clients who went on to say that their money was stolen. Soon afterward, the firm collapsed.
What did Christina have to say about Erika in the lawsuit?
Christina filed the lawsuit against Erika in a Los Angeles-area superior courthouse on Tuesday. She stated that she didn’t know where the money from the settlement was until July 14, when she “discovered that all of her remaining Settlement Funds were dissipated and that her Girardi Keese attorneys had lied to her.”
The complaint read, “On March 29, 2019, the Settlement Amount was issued to ‘Girardi Keese and Christina Fulton.’ On April 8, 2019, the check was deposited into Girardi Keese’s Nano Bank account ending in 0567. The check was ‘[t]o be deposited in trust for Christina Fulton.’ This was a complete outright forgery as Plaintiff never endorsed this check and certainly never agreed to have it deposited.”
Fulton’s team further added that they were beyond shocked by the behavior of the firm, which went on to conceal the arrival of the check and did not obtain Ms. Fulton’s endorsement as required by law.
They continued, “The funds were treated as community property. Erika used the money to pay off her expenses. For at least 12 years, all of her expenses were paid by Girardi Keese as she was generating them. No one withdrew money from the firm other than Erika Girardi.”
Christina is suing Erika for $745K
As a result of the settlement that remains unpaid to date, Christina Fulton is asking the court to provide her with the money for the damages made by the other party. She wants the court to allot her damages in an amount no less than $744,650.
Along with this Fulton is also demanding a trail from the end of the court. As of now, Erika has not made any official comment on the whole matter. Only time can tell what will happen next in this case.
