After canceling almost all the DCU films, Warner Bros. is heading in a new direction, by casting new actors for the new roles. A number of big names are cut from the new DCU, like Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, and Ben Affleck as well. But James Gunn has also confirmed the same fate for Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam.
Dwayne Johnson Bids Farewell to the DCU
Black Adam is a long-awaited project of Dwayne Johnson, which hit the theatres this year. But the debut did not go well just like other DC projects. After a lot of speculation about canceling, the actor confirmed the uncertain fate of DC’s anti-hero Black Adam. The character will not appear in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s upcoming DC Universe.
The Fast and Furious star wrote on Twitter: “James Gunn and I connected, and Black Adam will not be in their first chapter of storytelling. However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters.”

He concluded the post by saying: “These decisions made by James and DC leadership represent their vision of DCU through their creative lens. After 15 years of relentless hard work to finally make Black Adam, I’m very proud of the film we delivered for fans worldwide. I will always look back on the fan reaction to Black Adam with tremendous gratitude, humility and love. We did great.”
James Gunn’s Reply to “the Rock”

James Gunn himself assured of collaborating soon with other projects. In the post Rock also said: “However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters.”
Love @TheRock & I’m always excited to see what he & Seven Bucks do next. Can’t wait to collaborate soon. ? https://t.co/NLwRqBVkd1

This gives a lot of hope for the future of Snyderverse characters as well. If the new DCU ever follows the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” storyline, the Snyderverse will reemerge on screen. This kind of storyline and merger of the different cinematic universes are happening in the MCU.
James Gunn’s Version of DCU

Gunn has recently confirmed a new Superman film is in the works after firing Henry Cavill from his role. The Suicide Squad director has also confirmed that a new Batman will appear in the new DC Universe. But the new one will have no relation to Matt Reeves’s Batman universe.
While answering a question from a fan, Gunn revealed that Blue Beetle is still going to be released next year. The same fate will go for the releases of The Flash, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
But these films will go through major cuts before releasing in front of audiences. The reports claim that the scenes of Cavill and Gadot are already out from the final cut of The Flash film.
Gunn and Safran are visualizing a younger version of the DC universe, just like how the MCU started their journey. Gunn’s vision with the Suicide Squad gained major success. Only Suicide Squad has a future in Gunn’s new universe. But Jason Momoa will also appear in the new universe but not as Arthur Curry.
Whatever happens with the DCU, Gunn will reveal those at the beginning of the next year. But DCU is already in chaos before Gunn reveals his ideas to the audience.
