Beyoncé and Jay-Z have set a new real estate record! The power couple, who already have a number of lavish properties to their name, have bought a new mansion in Malibu, for a whopping $200 million, making it the most expensive real estate deal ever in the state of California.
The 30,000-square-foot waterfront property is an all-concrete mansion designed by Japanese master architect, Tadao Ando. The previous record for the most expensive property in California was held by a mansion sold in 2021 for $177 million.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z Buy $200 Million Mansion in Malibu
The Pacific Ocean-facing house is situated in a region called Billionaires’ Row, or the Paradise Cove area. Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s dream home is situated on an eight-acre bluff. The mansion is designed by Tadao Ando, who also worked on Kanye West’s $57.3 million house, which he got during his divorce from Kim Kardashian.
The Billionaires’ Row home took 15 years to get constructed and was previously owned by art collector William Bell. The property was listed for $295 million, so Beyoncé and Jay-Z got a pretty good deal on the house, although still the most expensive ever in California. The sale went through celebrity realtor Kurt Rappaport, who tended to both the buyers and sellers.
The deal is also the second-costliest real estate purchase in the country, only behind an NYC apartment worth $238 million. Beyoncé and Jay-Z have a combined net worth of around $2.5 billion, so it would not have been much difficult for the singers to shell out $200 million for their dream home.
The Couple Previously Bought a Bel Air Mansion for $88 Million
The two artists, who got married in 2008 and share three children together, have invested heavily in real estate over the years. In 2017, they paid $88 million for a mansion in Bel Air, Los Angeles. The 1.86 acres property featured 8 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, 4 swimming pools, a recording studio, an indoor basketball court, and a tennis court.
The same year, the couple bought a mansion in the Hamptons for $26 million. The 12,000-square-foot house is situated on East Hampton’s exclusive Georgica Pond. The property has several attractions, including seven bedrooms, hand-carved heated marble tubs, stone fireplaces, and a detached 1,800-square-foot guest cottage.
Social Media Reacts to the Deal
The reports of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s $200 million mansion deal have received mixed reactions on social media. While some are joking about the enormous amount of money, others are supporting the couple in purchasing the home of their choice.
“Who tf buys a house that costs this much bro that’s so useless you could buy SO much land to save the earth but you rather spend it on a f–king house,” tweeted a user. Another wrote, “No person in a normal society should have so much wealth.”
While a supported tweeted, “some of y’all are mad that they’re spending THEIR money the way that THEY want to??? stop worrying ab celebs money and go get a job of ur own. it’s clear y’all are insanely jobless.”
