The Richmonds are back! After a wait of a year and a half, Ted Lasso is finally returning with its third season. Apple TV+ has now confirmed the release date and unveiled a small teaser for the upcoming season of the Primetime Emmy-winning show.
The season will focus on Ted dealing with problems in his professional and personal life after Nate leaves the AFC Richmond and goes to work for West Ham United. Read on to watch the teaser and know the release date of the show.
Ted Lasso Season 3 Release Date Announced with New Teaser
The teaser does not give away much about the storyline but shows the AFC Richmond crew recreating new versions of Coach Lasso’s ‘BELIEVE’ sign, after a furious Nate ripped it up in the previous season finale. Roy, Jamie, Dani, Rebecca, Keeley, Higgins, Sam, and Isaac then turn up their yellow-and-blue signs, impressing the coach.
By the end of the clip, Lasso is seen checking the signs out and telling Coach Beard, “Well, if seeing is believing, I believe we’ve been seeing.” Ted Lasso season 3 will premiere on Apple TV+ on March 15. The 12-episode season will air weekly on Wednesdays. Watch the teaser below.
What to Expect from the Upcoming Season?
Apple TV+ has also released an official synopsis that reveals what to expect from the third season. It reads, “The newly-promoted AFC Richmond faces ridicule as media predictions widely peg them as last in the Premier League and Nate, now hailed as the “wonder kid,” has gone to work for Rupert at West Ham United.”
“In the wake of Nate’s contentious departure from Richmond, Roy Kent steps up as assistant coach, alongside Beard. Meanwhile, while Ted deals with pressures at work, he continues to wrestle with his own personal issues back home.”
“Rebecca is focused on defeating Rupert and Keeley navigates being the boss of her own PR agency. Things seem to be falling apart both on and off the pitch, but Team Lasso is set to give it their best shot anyway,” it reads further.
The Third Season is Rumored to be the Last One
Show creator Jason Sudeikis had previously said that the series’ storyline would conclude in three seasons. However, he added that the final decision about the show’s fate was not his to make. “The story that’s being told, that three-season arc, is one that I see, know, and understand,” he said.
“I’m glad that [Apple TV+ is] willing to pay for those three seasons. As far as what happens after that, who knows? I don’t know,” he added. However, Apple TV+ is not marketing the upcoming season as the last one, so there is a possibility that more episodes will follow.
Ted Lasso season 3 will star Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso, Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton, Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins, Phil Dunster as Jamie Tartt, Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard, Nick Mohammed as Nathan Shelley, Juno Temple as Keeley Jones, and Sarah Niles as Dr. Sharon Fieldstone.
