Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania may face some changes before its theatrical release. According to Fandango, the film will receive a 2 hour and 5 minutes long runtime which is slightly longer than usual compared to the previous two Ant-Man films. But a lot of reshoots are happening as well, which is unexpected as the film is so near to its premiere.
A Longer Run Time for Quantumania
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is the third film of Ant-Man and the most important one compared to the previous two. 2015’s Ant-Man had a runtime of 1 hour and 57 minutes and 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp followed just a minute longer runtime with 1 hour and 58 minutes. Whereas, Fandango reveals a longer runtime of two hours and five minutes for the upcoming film.
The film will kick start the MCU Phase V, and the plot has much importance for what is coming next in the upcoming movies. The release date of the film is still February 17, 2023, after releasing the first trailer in October.
Reshoots Still Happening

But new photos on the internet have confirmed that the movie is still going through reshoots. However, most of these shots do not involve VFX shots. But these reshoots are happening just weeks before the premiere of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
This is quite surprising that a film’s reshoots are happening so near to its release. But the movie has to be finished before early February for test screenings.
A post on Twitter has revealed a picture where Paul Rudd did his reshoot on January 6 in Los Angeles. These scenes may be related to Quantumania’s marketing. But no reports have come out on it yet.
The picture shows Rudd outside of Bridge Donuts carrying a pink and blue box. In the picture, he is also wearing the same cloth from the film’s official trailer.

Quantumania’s Importance to Phase V and VI

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniawill explore the Quantum Realm and introduce the Kang the Conquerer variant to Phase V of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The official plot synopsis on Marvel suggests: “In the film, which officially kicks off phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp. Together, with Hope’s parents Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible. Jonathan Majors joins the adventure as Kang. Director Peyton Reed returns to direct the film; Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard produce.”
Jonathan Majors made his debut as He Who Remains, a variant of Kang in the MCU in Season 1 of the Loki Disney+ series. Majors will feature in the majority of Phase V and VI as the main antagonist. His journey may conclude with Avengers: Secret Wars in May 2026.
Talking about his villainous role, Majors said: “It was the character and dimensions of Kang, and the potential that it had. I thought, I’ll take a chance on that.”
The film is probably receiving these reshoots late because of fans’ criticism over Phase IV films and series. As per reports, the studio is under pressure for these complaints.
